We’ve officially turned the corner and Thanksgiving is behind us. Now, the countless holiday events begin. There are lots of great holiday concerts in the Black Hills area every year, but one of the favorites for many people is coming up tomorrow night.

Tonic Sol-fa will be performing in Rapid City on Wednesday, December 2nd at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. You may not have heard of these guys before, but trust me – they put on a great show. A four-man a capella group based out of Minnesota, Tonic Sol-fa puts on one of the most fun holiday concerts I’ve ever been to.

I first saw them perform live about ten years ago at the community fair back where I grew up in Iowa. At that time Tonic Sol-fa was a fairly unknown musical group – nobody in our hometown had heard of them or had any idea what they were all about.

They put on such a great show that night, that our town ended up having them back for repeat performances for the next several years. A few years after I first saw them, I attended one of Tonic Sol-fa’s holiday concerts and was completely blown away!

With their flawless vocals, lively humor and audience interaction, it’s hard to leave one of their shows without a smile on your face. Tonic Sol-fa shows are spotlessly clean and are perfect for the whole family.

The 7:30 p.m show tomorrow night in Rapid City is one of only 22 holiday concerts they are performing this year and tickets are still available. It will be a great show and the perfect way to get you in the holiday mood. For tickets or more information, call the good folks at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center at 1-800-GOTMINE.

Joe is a resident of Spearfish, S.D. He grew up in the tall-corn state of Iowa, where he developed an early interest in all things outdoors. After high school he moved to Vermillion, S.D., where he earned his bachelor’s degree in public relations and advertising. During his college years, two things caught his attention: the beauty of western South Dakota’s Black Hills and a girl from those Black Hills. After graduating from college, Joe traveled across the country as a recruiter for the University of South Dakota. He saw the sights from Pittsburgh to Las Vegas and everywhere in between, but it was the Black Hills (and the girl) that kept drawing him back. He and wife moved back to the Black Hills in 2008. He's an avid hiker, mountain biker and road cyclist whose future plans include trying to fit a pair of kayaks into the spare bedroom.
