Tempting Tuesday Tonight at Deadwood’s Adams House

Deadwood’s Adams House

I just had a visit from Anne Rogers, Deadwood’s cutest educator/publications guru (see below). She dropped by for some work stuff, but in the process of talking to one of my coworkers they got on the subject of Christmas gifts.

Anne Rogers: Cutest Educator in Deadwood

“Oh, tonight we’re having the special shopping night at the Adams House store!” she said. “They’re doing specials – I’ve already raided the fifty-cent basket – and free gift wrapping.”

My coworker thought that meant he could drop by his whole lot of Christmas presents and get them wrapped. He was wrong, but it’s good to tease Anne. She takes it so well – usually by getting us back later.

You might not get all your Christmas gifts wrapped at the Adams House for free tonight, but some good-hearted volunteers will wrap any of the items you buy at the Adams House store. They’re calling the shopping event Tempting Tuesdays, and it runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight and next Tuesday, November 27. Aside from complimentary gift wrapping, the Adams House is sale-pricing some items, holding drawings for prizes and serving free goodies.

Next Tuesday, author Cathie Draine will autograph copies of her book Cowboy Life: the Letters of George Philip at the Adams Museum’s book store just down the street. Word has it that western artist Mick Harrison, the book’s illustrator, also will be there.
