They managed not to get trapped like the 2900 people on the wrong side of I70 during avalanche season(not hockey). In one of my own adventures I made some snowshoes out of 2x6's and rope when I was snowed in Deadwood two years ago. Amazing what a lack of alcohol and boredom will make you do...
