Obama Statue

After visiting 30 cities in 8 states, Obama has finally reached home. No, not at the White House, but in Lead, SD.  David Adickes’ 20 feet tall and 7,000 pound statue of Barack Obama is now on display at President’s Park after a long journey from Texas.

The statue traveled through locations like Houston, Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and various sites in South Dakota like Wall Drug and Mount Rushmore.

The giant likeness of our nation’s 44th president got quite a bit of attention. Take a look at pictures taken during the statue’s journey, along with videos and press releases created along the way. You can also check out the President’s Park on Twitter for a day-by-day  account of the sculpture’s progress.

I recommend you take some time to visit the park. You’ll get a chance to enjoy the beautiful Black Hills while learning more about our nation’s leaders and history. Obama and our country’s former presidents can be visited at President’s Park year round. Take a look at their hours and admission. Also, learn more about artist David Adickes here.
