Now Appearing in Germany….

Ever had the opportunity to see the Wild Horse Sanctuary in Hot Springs? Even if you haven’t had the chance to visit yet (I recommend you add it to your travel agenda soon), you’ve probably caught a glimpse of it once or twice and not even realized. Ever seen Hidalgo? Into the Wild? TNT television movie Crazy Horse? If yes to any of these, you’ve had a view of the Wild Horse Sanctuary.
The Wild Horse Sanctuary has been the set for all kinds of productions, some international. Recently, NHK, Japan’s largest content television producer, spent time making a documentary at the sanctuary. Now, ZDF, Germany’s national public television broadcaster, will air The New World, a program produced by Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion (Cologne, Germany) and filmed by Emmy award winning filmmaker, Neil Rettig.
So what exactly is The New World? This documentary depicts what the Americas were like before their discovery by Europe. Then, the documentary shows the results of the two cultures meeting and the world we live in today. There’s a chance you’ve studied a little about this before, but you might not have considered this one of the major ecological events of the millennium. The documentary explores the exchange of plants, animals, foods, ideas, diseases and so forth between “The New World” and “The Old World.”
The new documentary should be pretty interesting. For starters, the Wild Horse Sanctuary is the largest non-profit horse sanctuary in North America. Also, filmmaker Neil Rettig has won 3 Emmys, has been a part of IMAX Productions and National Geographic Specials and has had articles published in National Geographic Magazine and Audubon.
To stay up-to-date on The New World, keep an eye on the Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion website.
