Nicolas Cage in front of a creepy animated Mount Rushmore for National Treasure: Book of Secrets

So it turns out that the National Treasure: Book of Secrets guys decided not to do a game for Mount Rushmore on the movie’s official site. That’s kind of a pity, given how cool some of the other games were. One of my good friends got hooked on the Pitfall-style arcade game in Cairo, and I was pretty impressed with the underground maze at Mount Vernon. We had high hopes for Rushmore, but maybe they decided that a game at the film’s final location would give away too much of the plot.

Whatever the reason, Disney didn’t leave us empty-handed. They created a desktop wallpaper image of Nicolas Cage with Mount Rushmore (a creepy computer-generated Mount Rushmore, but I’ll take it), and in the spirit of American goofiness, a program that allows you to put your face on the sculpture. It’s predictably kitschy, but awfully fun. The website converts your face into a 3D model and pastes it on the mountain in place of whichever president you’d like. You’ll get facial hair if you decide to replace Teddy or Abe, and you might look a little balding in George Washington’s place. If you’re not content to make a fool only out of yourself, you can embarrass three of your friends and family, too, by uploading their pictures.

Silly, yes. But fun. I mean, let’s be honest here: who hasn’t imagined their head on Mount Rushmore?
