As we round out this work week, Father’s Day is coming into view! If you’re still stumped on what to get your old man, maybe sharing some quality time on the cool, clear waters of the Black Hills is the answer.
If you’re thinking so, the South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks Department has just so happened to issue a free fishing weekend across the state in celebration of Father’s Day—valid for both residents and nonresidents. To help encourage families to get active in local outdoor recreation, anglers will be free to fish without a license beginning at 4 p.m. MDT on Friday, June 16, through Sunday, June 18. It’s also fitting that Sunday marks National Go Fishing Day.
Is there really a better pastime to relax, reconnect, and spend time with family while enjoying the great outdoors?
Do note, a park entrance license is required to access boat ramps inside the boundaries of all South Dakota state parks and recreation areas as well as some lakeside use areas.
