Crazy Horse Memorial

Are you a fan of hiking? There are trails available all over the Black Hills, but on one certain weekend of the year, hikers have the advantage of seeing the world’s largest mountain carving up close. This would be the Crazy Horse Volksmarch on June 6-7th.

The Crazy Horse Volksmarch is a 6.2 mile Native American Heritage Walk at the Crazy Horse Memorial. This year will mark the 23rd annual hike, which has attracted a record of 15,000 people. Currently, this is the most popular organized hike in the United States. There is no other time of year that the public is permitted so close to the monument.

The walk will begin at 8 AM and conclude at 4 PM. Admission to the park is free during the Volksmarch, but participants must register between 7AM until 1 PM and pay a $3 fee. Canned food donations for the KOTA Care and Share Food Drive are encouraged.
