Blue Man Group in Rapid City on April 17

The Blue Man Group performs live in Rapid City, South Dakota on April 17, 2008

Blue men, red-haired clown, Black Hills. It’s enough to make you green with envy.

Yeah, I know: yuk yuk yuk. I’m not going to win any joke awards, but seriously, one morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas…

Fortunately, the Blue Man Group is going to be in Rapid City in a few weeks, and I understand they’re much funnier than I am. I considered seeing them in Las Vegas last year, but didn’t get the chance. I’m glad for another opportunity – I’ve heard nothing but good things about their show.

If you’re not real familiar with BMG, the website for this particular tour (How to Be a Megastar 2.1) has some excellent videos of the performance. Think music, paint, drums and black outfits. There’s also a link to what I assume is one of the show’s cameos: Floppie the Banjo Clown. Party on, Floppie.

April 17 is a Thursday, so those of you within a few hours of Rapid City (ahem-Sioux Falls-ahem) might consider making a long weekend out of it. Hotels in the Black Hills are still a very good deal in early spring, and you shouldn’t have a problem finding a room at your favorite lodge or resort.
