Black Hills Snow Sports in Online Magazine

A snowboarder catches air on Terry Peak near Deadwood in the Black Hills - South Dakota Tourism

It was only natural that after my last post about snowmobiling, I would wake up to several inches of fresh, fluffy powder. I noticed several trucks pulling trailers of sleds through Boulder Canyon this morning. I hope they had a chance to play with the new snow before they had to head home.

Speaking of snow, the winter sports scene in the Black Hills has gotten a bit of a nod from an online journal. Jetsetters Magazine has published an article about skiing and snowmobiling in the Black Hills, along with general travel information. By and large, the information is pretty good, with plenty of phone numbers and websites of local outfitters and trail organizations to help you plan your trip.

It might not be a bad idea to use those phone numbers to confirm your plans. There are a few errors in the article (Kevin Costner has Deadwood’s Midnight Star Casino, not the Mineral Palace) and a couple of omissions (in addition to Minneapolis, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Chicago and Denver, Rapid City Regional Airport also has direct flights to Phoenix), so it would be worth it to double-check before you start adding things to your itinerary.

A number of the attractive photos in the article come from the Black Hills News Bureau. If you’re interested in getting some higher-resolution versions, you can peruse the gallery and download them there.
