“Mount Rushmore, come on down. You’re the next contestant on The Price is Right!”

Yesterday morning, the famous CBS day-time game show kicked off its episode by giving away a Black Hills vacation – a first for the show as far as we can tell.

It was the first item up for bids of the day and is what the shows calls a “won bid.” That means that it’s one of the guaranteed-to-win prizes that contestants bid on to actually earn their way up on stage.

The vacation package included a flight into Rapid City Regional Airport, six nights in Rapid City at the Radisson Hotel, sightseeing in the Black Hills, a hot-air balloon ride over Mount Rushmore, and a rental car.

A while back, the folks at the South Dakota Office of Tourism let us know that The Price is Right production staff had contacted them for some footage of Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills. From the sounds of things, the date the Black Hills vacation package would be included in the show got shuffled around a bit and we had kind of forgotten about the whole thing – until yesterday.

The photo above is just a screenshot from the episode yesterday, but if you want to view the actual broadcast of the show with the Black Hills package, click here. The Black Hills/Mount Rushmore vacation package is the first item on the show, so if you watch just the first couple minutes, you’ll see the whole thing.

I’ve always been a fan of The Price is Right, but after yesterday, the show is definitely moving up on my list of favorites!
