Attention antique enthusiasts: Public Broadcasting Systems’ popular program “Antiques Roadshow” is coming to Rapid City July 14.  This Emmy-nominated show attracts 10 million viewers a week, and it is heading our way. The show is a mixture of treasure hunting, antique history and advice on antique values and appraisals.

With our rich history the Black Hills area is sure to bring some true treasures to the table.

Rapid City is listed as a 2012 stop along with Boston, Cincinnati and Seattle, and it will air as part of the 2013 broadcast season.

The show will be taped at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center and will feature about 70 appraisers who cover more than 20 different categories. Keep in mind there are a few items they do not appraise, including coins, currency, stamps, vehicles, glass fire extinguishers, explosives or hazardous materials.

If you are seeking instruction on the value of your antiques or just want to see what all the hype is about, tickets are free but must be obtained in advance.
